Citizenship and Residency in Binjing
Binjing citizens proudly call themselves Binstuds. Citizenship is more than a status. It means you are a recognised part of the province, with all the rights and privileges that come with it. Not sure why you should become a Binstud? Read the Why become a Binstud? page.
The Citizenship Ceremony
Once your application is approved, you are invited to a swearing-in ceremony with the Premier. This is your formal welcome into Binjing. After the ceremony, you receive your passport and a group photo is taken to immortalise the occasion. Many Binstuds come to treasure their passport over time.
The whole process takes about ten minutes, but you will remember it.
Eligibility
To be eligible for citizenship, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Binjing.
- Pay more taxes in Binjing than in all other provinces combined, excluding Market Square.
- Pay at least 5 cc more in taxes to Binjing per week than to any other single province, excluding Market Square.
Only copper coins (cc) are considered. Land scrips (ls) are not counted.
How to Apply
Once you meet the eligibility criteria, contact the Premier. You will need to provide:
- Proof of residency. Your Party Secretary can confirm this at the ceremony, or provide a signed book if they cannot attend.
- A breakdown of all taxes owed per province, excluding Market Square. This should not include your Citizen Tax, as you are not yet a citizen. Only copper coins (cc) are considered.
Responsibilities
Citizenship is maintained by continuously meeting all eligibility criteria. If you no longer meet them, your citizenship is lost automatically.
You must report any changes in foreign tax obligations to the Minister of Administration. Failure to report can result in a 25 cc fine, or, if the changes resulted in a loss of eligibility, a 50 cc fine.
Your passport must be carried at all times, in your inventory or ender chest. If lost, contact the Premier for a replacement.
Ending Your Citizenship
You may renounce your citizenship at any time by depositing your passport into the Provincial Office mailbox. This results in the immediate loss of all citizenship rights and privileges. If you are a member of the CPB, you will also be removed from the Party.
If you wish to become a citizen again, you must go through the full application process again.
Passport Fee
A passport is issued for a fee of 50 cc. This applies to both new passports and replacements.
